Winter Storms in the South
12/11/2019 (Permalink)
Winter storms in the south can be especially tricky, considering southerners are not used to snow, ice or sleet. Here are a few things that we all can do to make it a little less scary and even fun if the snow word is mentioned.
- Listen to your local meteorologist. (NOT Uncle Jim Bob’s cousin who predicts weather on Facebook)
- Protect the P’s- people, pets, pipes and plants. Cover the pipes and bring the pets, plants and people in.
- If you have children, snow can be a wonderful experience if your prepared. Have ingredients ready for chili or gumbo and make a big pot for lunch.
- Have gloves, hats and boots (hunting clothes for most of the south) ready for the kids to go play.
- If you don’t have to drive, please don’t.
- Remember all the snow, ice or sleet will be melted in a few hours, usually.
